After self-reflecting, I’m sure we can all admit that there are times when we feel as if our best isn’t good enough. We’ve had moments when we felt inadequate, underqualified or left behind for one reason or another. While this is normal, having these feelings only lead to increased stressed levels, overthinking and a lack of confidence – all of which result in having a defeated spirit.
To be transparent, I’ve struggled with this feeling several times in my life, even recently. I know firsthand how tough it is to work hard and STILL feel as though you’re not doing what you THINK you’re supposed to be doing. It’s also hard when you fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. Doubt and uncertainty creep into your mind because you see your peers reaching new levels in life and accomplishing one thing after another. Then, you begin to question EVERYTHING from your job status and finances to your personal development.
What if I told you that you’re not inadequate, underqualified or left behind? What if I said you’re actually on a great path, and you’re doing a pretty good job at mastering this chapter you’re in currently?
In true Kris Jenner fashion, I want to remind you that you’re doing amazing, sweetie!
Whenever you’re feeling down about the course that your life is taking, take a moment to reflect on where you were 2-3 years ago. Now, look at where you’re at now. Take note of everything that you've accomplished in the last couple of years, even super small details that you wouldn’t normally consider a big deal (I suggest writing this down to give you a visual). Whether you’ve made small steps or huge steps toward your goals, that’s something to be proud of!
I’m not saying that you should become complacent with where you are in life, but I want you to realize that if you’re doing your best and seeking God for direction, then you’re where He needs you to be RIGHT NOW. It’s up to us to embrace our journey and trust that God will open the right doors at the right time.
Regardless of where your life is at the moment, I want you NEVER to forget that you’re doing well, your life is moving forward, and I SEE you (even if I don’t know you, haha). Never give up on your journey, and please do not lose hope when things aren’t falling into place how you imagined they would. It’s all a part of YOUR process.
I challenge you to combat every negative thought that tries to enter into your mind by complimenting yourself. For example, if you’re getting discouraged about the type of job you have because you feel you should be in a higher position, remind yourself that you’re doing well in your role and you’re blessed to have the job. If you’re feeling low because you feel like the years are passing you by, and you’re not elevating as fast as you would like, remind yourself that you’ve conquered each year successfully with even more to accomplish soon.
Do not let defeat win. If no one told you lately, I want to remind you that you’re doing AMAZING, sweetie! Keep going and growing.
Let’s add on to the challenge above. I challenge you to say to yourself, “you’re doing amazing, sweetie,” at least 8-10 times today. It’s a cute affirmation that will help you practice filling your mind with positivity. Make it a habit to uplift yourself daily!
