If you're anything like me, I am sure you have a head filled with dreams that sometimes seem a little crazy and outlandish. You probably have told people what you want to do in life and their response was laughter. Maybe you aren't the traditional type that wants a career in a field that everyone goes into. You probably don't want a job that requires you to sit at the same desk in the same office day in and day out. That's okay.
It's super important to remember that everyone has different things that they are passionate about and no one person's dreams are the same. Whatever crazy idea you have, go for it! I mean why not? What or who is stopping you? People's reactions to your dreams? Money? Family? Your own fear?
It happens to the best of us. I, myself, have a fear of failure and rejection when it comes to chasing my dreams (of course money is a factor also haha). However, where is that going to lead me? Will these fears help me achieve my goals and reach my full potential? Nah, absolutely not. I do not want to be that 70 year old grandma talking about what her life could've been and how unhappy she has been for the last umpteen years. I want to be that grandma that tells all of her grandchildren cool stories about all of the places life has taken her because she followed her dreams. I want to leave my legacy behind with them, but how can I do that if I do not take the first step to achieving my goals?
What is the first step? Write your goals down. Writing things down gives you a chance to reference all of your ideas without forgetting them. It also serves as an accountability tool. Create deadlines that will help you to not become complacent. The next (very essential) thing you want to do is pray over them. Pray that God takes total control over your plans so that He can get all of the honor and the glory. Also, pray for the strength to START (whenever He is ready for you to move). It is very important that you allow God to enter into your dreams because you want to move on His timing and you also want to do what He would have you to do in order for you to successfully accomplish your goals.
The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. -Proverbs 21:5
Finally, once God has given you the guidance and the "okay" to move forward, go for it! Continue your journey by putting your plans to action. With prayer and faith, you can exceed the goals that you first set out for yourself. You will begin to notice that doors will open that you never imagined would open for you.
So again, I ask, what or who is stopping you? Write a list of your answers to this question, then write a list of positive things to combat those answers. I guarantee your positive list will outweigh the negative list. You can do anything that you put your mind to (very cliche, but oh so true). Just write it down, pray over it and go for it!
