Transparent moment: as I am writing this, tears are literally falling down my face because I found myself breaking down. 2018 has been phenomenal so far, but I would be lying if I said it wasn’t whipping my butt already. In just a little over one month, I’ve cried, fasted, prayed heavily, and cried some more. Before stepping into this new year, God revealed to me that I was entering into a season of “pruning” (that’s another post for another day). He let me know that this year, He was going to do a “new thing” in my life (Isiah 43:19) and that I was about to come into a season of breakthroughs. BUT, He told me it’s going to require me to prepare for a fight...
When God is ready to push you into some wins, you’ll have to go through some things to get there.
The devil doesn’t want to see you get these W’s. So, tonight He laid two words on my heart…suit up. Ephesians 6:10-20 talks about putting on “the armor of God” because the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. He wants to steal your joy, kill your spirit and destroy your faith. He wants to steal your power, kill your soul and destroy your mind. He wants to steal your finances, kill your relationships and destroy your peace. He wants to steal YOU, kill YOU and destroy YOU. (Not trying to sound dramatic, but y'all...it's real.)
How do we stop this? We have to first TRUST GOD, then SUIT UP. This scripture gives us the instructions on how to suit up. Read verses 14-17 – it outlines everything we need in order to win any spiritual warfare that comes up against us. The “belt of truth.” The “breastplate of righteousness.” The “gospel of peace.” The “shield of faith.” The “helmet of salvation.” The “sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.” God equipped us with everything we need right in those 3 verses.
Now, I’m not here to preach to y’all (haha), but I wanted to share this scripture so that we can all be reminded that life has its battles. He never promised us that it wouldn’t, but He did promise that He would give us the tools that we need to persevere and come out victorious.
Whatever life has thrown at you recently, take your moment to cry it out, but don’t wallow in your misery. (I am the Queen of wallowing, so I know how that goes!) Suit up. Read this scripture (or any scripture), say a prayer, recharge your faith, then boss up on the devil. Even if life is going great for you and you’re not facing any battles at the moment, still suit up and remain that way because we all know the devil works overtime – stay ready!
I believe that God is ready to prepare us for some amazing triumphs in the coming months, but we have to be ready to receive them. The battles won't be easy, but with God going before us, the war will be won. So...SUIT UP!
