Many times (actually all of the time), God gives us assignments that we must act on to reach whatever He has next for us. Often, those assignments require movement of some sort. He may tell us to fill out that school application, start that business, go to that group therapy session, join that church, write that blog post, take that mission trip, etc. Then, there comes a time during our battle(s) when God gives us a simple assignment: be STILL.

If you’re anything like me, you get weak and weary when you feel that you’ve done everything that God has asked of you and you still have not received a breakthrough. You become overwhelmed as you rack your brain about what you should do next to push yourself closer to what He has for you. You’re always on the go, trying to do everything in your power to fight this battle.

Psalm 46:10 tells us to be still and know that He is God.

During storms, there will come a time when He literally just wants us to stop, sit down and wait on Him to fight the battle for us. It doesn’t mean stop doing EVERYTHING. We should continue seeking Him through His word, and we should continue our conversations with Him, BUT we’ll also need to rest in knowing that He’s working EVERYTHING out for us.

God instilled great power within us, but there are still a lot of things that are bigger than us.

So, we have to lean on our Big God to take care of it. If we attempt to do so ourselves, we’ll only wear ourselves out mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. We don’t have to get to that point if we listen to His instruction to BE STILL and know that He is God, the only one that can handle what we’re experiencing.

If you’re feeling hopeless, drained and anxious for your next season, seek God for guidance.

You may find that you’re feeling this way because He is directing you to take a moment to allow Him to win the fight for you. If He wants you to be still, then be still. During your season of stillness, listen out for Him to speak to you and trust His promises. Not only will He send your breakthrough, but He will also do a NEW thing in your life if you keep the faith.

Be still and know that He is God. Whatever He has for you, it’s on the way!
