2016: Theme It!

It's the first post of 2016! I am so excited to begin a new year and I look forward to seeing what 2016 will bring...especially for A Dash of Michaela!

Before last year ended ("last year," that sounds so weird haha), I heard a portion of a preacher's sermon and he said something that stuck with me. He said whatever God lays on your heart at the tail-end of this year, allow that to be your "theme" for the new year. I was so fascinated by this one statement that I began to pay more attention to every detail of the last few days of 2015. I did not want to miss out on God showing me what my theme for 2016 would be. Then it came to me...well "they" came to me (I have two themes haha). Peace and travel.

This is my year to finally be at peace with my life and to explore this great Earth that God has created. My themes excite me so much and I am dedicating my time to making sure that my year does not roll on by without me living through them. I plan to travel as much as I can, even if it's only to the next state. You never know what gems are in driving distance. I also plan to walk in my peace. This has been one of my constant struggles, but I feel that this is the year where I will learn to rest knowing that God is in control.

Did God lay something on your heart or send you a sign right before last year ended (or even at the beginning of this year)? Don't ignore it. Use that and shape your year around it. You never know what God is going to do in your life based off of what He told you. Your theme may be love. Maybe He wants you to become more open to loving others and being loved. He might even present your Mr. or Mrs. Right this year *wink wink*...you just never know! Whatever it is, pay attention to it, pray on it persistently, and live through it!
